Ink notes

Ink notes turn CLIP into a real notebook. Open any lesson or Library document and write directly on the material with the Apple Pencil (or your finger, or a mouse) — highlight passages, scribble in the margins, drop shapes and stickers, record your thinking out loud. Everything autosaves and is private to you.

Where to find it

• Lessons — open the left rail's Ink notes section → Write on this lesson. The lesson itself opens as pages you write on.
• Library documents — the reader's right rail → Write on this document.
• Official PDFs (syllabus, study text) — these open straight into the PDF annotator: real pages, your ink on top. The download link stays available.
• Extra blank pages: hit + next to the page tabs to add freeform pages after the material — like slipping a blank sheet into the textbook.

Writing

• Pens — fountain (pressure-sensitive), ballpoint, and a soft pencil. Tap the pen tool twice to switch. Seven ink colours and three sizes, with a quick colour rail floating beside the page.
• Highlighter — translucent ink that auto-straightens when you drag along a line of text.
• Perfect shapes — draw a rough circle, rectangle or line and hold still at the end: it snaps clean. There's also a dedicated shapes tool.
• Palm rejection — rest your hand on the glass; only the Pencil draws. Fingers pan and pinch-zoom. (Toggle Finger: draws if you don't have a Pencil.)
• Eraser, lasso, undo/redo — the lasso selects whole strokes to drag, delete or convert.

The clever bits

• Ask Moe on your ink — lasso anything you've handwritten and tap Ask Moe. Your handwriting is read, and Moe explains it or lists the exam points — grounded in your actual course materials with citations, never invented law. One tap saves the exchange as a sticky.
• Handwriting → text — lasso ink → To text converts it into an editable text box. Converted text is searchable from the global search.
• Voice notes with ink replay — hit the mic, talk while you write. A pin lands on the page; tap it for the player bar (scrub, pause, speed up to 2×) and Replay ink re-draws your strokes in sync with your voice — watch your own explanation unfold again.
• Study templates — tap the active page tab to pick a template: ruled, grid, dots, Cornell, the Study day planner (focus box, task checkboxes, memory hooks, recall lines) or a Case brief worksheet (Facts / Issue / Held / Ratio / Apply it).
• Pages overview — the grid button shows every page as a thumbnail: jump anywhere, re-order your freeform pages, remove empty ones.
• Export — download the current page as an image, or the whole notebook as a PDF with all your annotations flattened onto the material.

Good to know

• Ink is private to you — trainers never see it.
• If a trainer updates the material after you've written on it, a banner warns you that your ink may sit differently; nothing is ever deleted.
• Voice recording needs microphone permission and keeps recording only while CLIP is open on screen.
• Typed text boxes accept Scribble — write into them with the Pencil and iPadOS converts as you go.
